After being announced back in 2022, and then launching in Australia in August last year, the free-to-play mobile RPG, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, is being shut down very soon and has already been removed from both the Google Play Store and App Store.
We are sorry to inform you that Mortal Kombat: Onslaught will close its operations in October,” a post on the game’s official X account read late last week. “It has been an honor creating this game for our Kommunity, and we appreciate the enthusiasm from our fans.”
“Mortal Kombat: Onslaught will shut down on 10/21/24,” a follow-up post revealed more recently. “The game will be removed from the App Store and Google Play on 7/22/24, with in-game purchases disabled on 8/23/24. Players can enjoy the game until 10/21/24.”

Naturally, existing and dedicated players aren’t overly thrilled with the news that a game they’ve potentially pumped money into is shutting its doors so soon, with replies to the announcement posts a mix of empathy for the developers no doubt affected and ire at the ability for a game predicated on asking money of its players being able to lock players out so quickly.
Mortal Kombat: Onslaught was billed as a high-quality, high-impact RPG with its own exclusive Mortal Kombat story full of fan-favourite Kombatants, huge real-time battles, a competitive community and the same brutally-detailed violence the series is known for.
